Terms of use

What work.co.ug is

work.co.ug lists job vacancies in Uganda that have an identifiable original source: an employer, a public body or a recruitment agency. Each listing links to the original advert on that organisation’s own website, and you apply there, not through work.co.ug. We also publish career guides.

Using work.co.ug is free and needs no account. We may add, change or remove listings and pages at any time.

What work.co.ug is not

• Not the employer. The employer, or the agency recruiting for it, decides who is shortlisted, interviewed and hired.
• Not an employment or recruitment agency. We do not collect CVs, forward applications or place candidates.
• No guarantee. We cannot promise that a vacancy is still open, that the employer’s advert is accurate or complete, or that applying will lead to an interview or a job.

We never charge job seekers

Never pay to apply. work.co.ug never charges job seekers and never asks anyone to pay a fee or send mobile money to get a job.

There is no registration fee, no shortlisting fee and no paid plan for job seekers. We never contact job seekers privately to offer a job or an interview. Anyone who asks you for money in work.co.ug’s name is not us: do not pay, and tell us at hello@work.co.ug.

Scams often copy real employers and real vacancies. Before you send money or documents to anyone:

• Find the employer’s website or published contact details yourself, and check that the vacancy and the application route appear there.
• Treat a request for payment to secure an interview, release an offer or guarantee a place as a reason to stop.
• An official fee for a public document, such as a Certificate of Good Conduct from the Uganda Police Force, is paid through the issuing agency’s own process. It is never a payment to a recruiter.
• Pressure to pay or decide quickly is a warning sign.
• Never share your mobile money PIN, bank PIN, passwords or one-time codes.
• If you have already paid, keep the messages and payment details, contact your bank or mobile money provider through its official channel and report it.

If a listing on work.co.ug asks applicants to pay, report it and we will check it and take it down.

Listings change: check the original advert

We check each listing’s source before it appears, and we remove a role when its deadline passes, its source changes or we can no longer verify it. Employers can still change or close a vacancy at any time, sometimes before the stated deadline, and our copy can be out of date or contain mistakes.

The original advert is what counts. Check the title, requirements, location, pay, closing date and how to apply there before you apply. If an advert does not publish pay or a deadline, we do not fill in a guess.

Recruitment agency listings are published by the agency named on the listing. If the agency has not named its client, we say so.

Employers submitting a job

Employers and hiring teams can email a vacancy to hello@work.co.ug, as the Post a job page explains. Sending a role does not guarantee that it will be published.

• Every submission is reviewed by a person. Nothing is published automatically.
• We check the employer and that the application link belongs to the organisation doing the hiring.
• We may decline or remove a listing, for example if we cannot verify it, if it asks applicants to pay or if its details are misleading.
• By submitting, you confirm that the role is current and that the application link belongs to the organisation hiring.
• We publish the vacancy details, never the contact name or email address you give us. See the privacy policy.

Corrections and takedown requests

If a listing is wrong, has closed or should not be on work.co.ug, email hello@work.co.ug with the page address and what needs to change. This includes:

• employers, public bodies and agencies asking us to correct or remove their own vacancy or profile;
• people named in a listing who want their personal details removed;
• anyone reporting a suspected scam, or content they believe was copied without permission.

We may ask you to show that you represent an organisation before we change its listing. We correct or remove listings that are inaccurate, closed or cannot be verified.

Using work.co.ug fairly

Please do not:

• submit false or misleading vacancies, or vacancies that charge applicants;
• claim to represent an employer, public body or agency that you do not represent;
• send us spam, advertising or harmful links;
• use the work.co.ug name to ask anyone for money or personal documents;
• try to disrupt the site or get around its security.

Search engines and other automated tools may read the site, as our robots.txt allows, as long as they do not overload it.

Career guides

Career guides are general information, not legal, tax or financial advice. They are based on the sources linked on each page and can be wrong or out of date. Check with the relevant authority, your employer or a qualified adviser before you rely on them.

Links to other websites

Listings and guides link to websites we do not control, including employer and agency sites and government services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply there. Check the web address before you enter personal details on any site.

Changes to these terms

We update these terms when the way work.co.ug works changes. We post the new version here, change the date at the top and add a line to the history below.
